OPINION: GUEST COLUMN: The campus: It’s in your hands By Lourdes Maria BoardmanStudent Government Association PresidentPublished Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021 It is a great pleasure to have the opportunity to write here, but most of all for you to read this. I am Lourdes Maria Boardman, your current student government president. I decided to write a little about my experience and try to motivate you to become more engaged and involved in our University. Lourdes Maria BoardmanTAMIU Student Government Association President Entering Texas A&M International University in 2019 was a challenging experience for me. I finished high school in Nuevo Laredo. OPINION: All-nighters bad for health? You don’t say

OPINION: All-nighters bad for health? You don’t say By David Gomez Jr.Editor-in-chiefPublished Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021 Yes, it is 1:13 a.m. as I type this. And no, I am not pulling an all-nighter again.  For those who still have no idea what an all-nighter is, it is when a person stays up past their curfew in order to complete last-minute assignments they should have begun as soon as they were told about them. David Gomez Jr.Editor-in-chief I am guilty of this bad habit. Lacking sleep throughout the day is not a good thing. I most certainly feel lethargic, heavy and on auto-pilot—if that makes sense. My all-nighters usually end up with me finishing my assignments at 6 a.m. and leaving just enough time to “wake-up” a bit while I shower for work at 7 a.m. Without fail, I a...

Return of intramurals

Return of intramurals By Delilah RamosBridge contributing writerPublished Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 When the preface “Return of” appears, some can only finish it with “the Jedi” or “the King” but some TAMIU students answer “intramurals.” Back in September, the program relaunched after a yearlong break due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. Rec Sports intramural specialist Xcaret Ramirez said she’s happy for this comeback. “Witnessing the energy created by active people enjoying their sports, the ref whistles reverberating off the walls and seeing months of planning coming through fruition has been very rewarding,” Ramirez said. Some students expressed how they missed the opportunity to compete against friends and have a good time. TAMIU student Victoria Alfaro likes to ...

As Middleton entered the program, he brought with him a great amount of coaching experience from NCAA Divisions I, II and III. Middleton’s experience includes developing and working with players of the year, conference honorees and many successful programs. A new coaching staff took over and implemented its new techniques into the Spring 2021 baseball season for the Dustdevils. TAMIU baseb...
