OPINION: Swift’s music not just about boys

OPINION: Swift’s music not just about boys By Alexia AlemanBridge Staff WriterPublished Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023 For the longest time, Taylor Swift was known as the girl who wrote breakup songs about the boys she dated. Yet, Swift proved many times that she's more than the girl with all the boyfriends. She went from being known for her love life to being the greatest singer-songwriter of our generation. Swift's lyrics are like no other. Her lyrics convey intense and heartfelt emotion in her music. One of her most heartbreaking lyrics is, “You drew stars around my scars but now I’m bleeding” from her song Cardigan. She describes a girl who had her heart broken before, and whose father left when she was young. But she meets a guy who heals her and makes her feel special. She falls co...

EDUCATION: Multidisciplinary studies, a growing major

EDUCATION: Multidisciplinary studies, a growing major By Jorge EscuderoBridge Contributing WriterPublished Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023 The Bachelor of Arts in multidisciplinary studies is becoming an increasingly popular major for TAMIU students. Multidisciplinary studies, often abbreviated to MDS, allows students to choose three focuses, similar to how they choose a major and, often, a minor degree. The Bachelor of Arts in MDS allows students to gain hands-on experience and education in different fields. This may be ideal for students who aren’t set on one specific field, or if they have an interest in multiple fields. Texas A&M International University’s MDS major began in 2017 and continues to increase student enrollment due to its diverse nature. MDS is sometimes referred t...

ARTS: Azteca theater a cultural loss for Laredo community

ARTS: Azteca theater a cultural loss for Laredo community From Staff ReportsPublished Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023 While several local cinemas remain torn down or closed, the Azteca Theater’s loss hit Laredo the most—from a historical perspective. Laredo lost its lower-cost Cinemark Movies 12, west of Interstate 35, in 2020 and the Regal Hollywood cinema in 2021. The new AI entry was implemented to reduce dishonesty in the classroom. Students must continue to practice being ethical in all their academic career, in and out of the classroom. Neto Gonzalez | Bridge Photo IllustrationSome students believe ChatGPT may be the key to graduating, but the TAMIU Honor Code would say otherwise. The Texas A&M International University Honor Code: Plagiarism and Cheating, part of the University’s course policies attached to every syllabus, lists several violations of the Honor Co...
