After an intense and competitive game, the Austin Spurs pulled out the win against the Oklahoma City Blue with a 116-98 final score. For the Sames Auto Arena game, the Spurs donned Laredo jerseys to support the local community.
In the beginning of the first quarter on March 1, the Spurs held an aggressive offensive game plan, but could not capitalize on their opportunities giving the lead to the OKC Blue. After a messy turnover by the OKC Blue, Spurs guard Jamaree Bouyae took advantage and tied the score, picking up momentum for the Spurs.

Bouyae was on a roll for the rest of the first quarter, scoring two step-back 3-pointers, which gave the lead to the Spurs and ended the first quarter 23-18 in the Spurs’ favor.
As the second quarter began, the OKC Blue came out hot and scored 6 unanswered points to take an early lead. Both teams began to swap the lead of the game, starting a seesaw battle for the rest of the second quarter.
Spurs guard Parker Van Dyke scored multiple 3-pointers, helping the Spurs build a driving force. They used that momentum, broke through the battle for the lead and did not give it back.
The OKC Blue tried to mount a comeback, coming down from 42-36 to 45-45, but were unable to take it any further. The second quarter ended with the Spurs on top at 54-50.
With the first half closing, Spurs center Ibrahima Diallo hit off the third quarter by scoring the first points of the second half. The Spurs turned it up a notch and looked more complete. The mindset showed as Spurs guard David Duke Jr. hit OKC Blue with a dunk, despite their determination to chase him down.
With good defense throughout this quarter, the Spurs were able to end the third quarter by keeping their high, with a score of 87-78.
As the end came near and the fourth quarter began, the Spurs were able to maintain their defense as well as offense despite OKC Blue’s success in blocking. The Spurs were able to keep their score up with the use of forwards Kyle Rode and Harrison Ingram, along with Duke, who all made numerous 3-pointers.
Still, OKC put up a good fight with not only just clear and easy shots, but complex team-coordinated movements while passing the ball and scoring.
Although the Spurs ended on top and Ingram was named Player of the Game, the team remained systematized throughout the game, coordinating their offense and defense through consistency and procedure.
After the game, coach Scott King spoke about how the team rallied.
“Consistency is key,” King explained. “We doubled down on the rebounding and ended up beating them in the glass overall.
“… We’re more about the process than any results. For us, focusing on how we’re doing things versus what the actual outcome is.”
