It is an exciting year for Foods4U, Laredo’s very own food and grocery delivery service. Entrepreneurs Lydia V. Johnson, Communication major at Texas A&M International University, and Erick Contreras, TAMIU graduate and military veteran are excited to announce that they will offer their food delivery service, Foods4U, to the TAMIU community.
Contreras explains how the business started: “Lydia and I were asking ourselves what would be a good business to open in Laredo.” Johnson and Contreras came to the conclusion that a business that was not in Laredo, but would potentially spark interest within the community. “What we found was that people responded right away to the idea” mentioned Contreras.
The ambitious ideas came from the owner’s love of food and their desire to facilitate people who hate making the trips to the grocery store. Contreras discusses that, “the purpose of Foods4U is to provide Laredo with a taste of a service that is nationwide, a service that exists in cities such as New York, San Francisco, Austin, and Washington” he also stated that the business is, “focused on delivering groceries and restaurant food to your home, your work, your business, or your desired location at your convenience.”
Johnson states that, “local supermarkets offer grocery pick up which puts your groceries in your car at the store, but Foods4U offers grocery delivery to your home and we deliver from all restaurants, corner, and super stores as well” the purpose of Foods4U is to give the customers anything they desire at a reasonable price. Tips are always optional and the delivery charges are simple, for example: A $9.99 order would only come with a $4.00 delivery fee. Foods4U also has a website that anyone can access by searching www.kingsserve.com with user friendly instructions and tools on how to place a grocery and food order. The website prompts you on how to make orders in the fastest way possible with step-by-step guidelines.
The business has boomed significantly since their launch in September 2016, Johnson explains that, “We now have multiple orders every day, as well as our returning customers who now see Foods4U as part of their lives. Our number one goal is to have excellent customer service, as well as deliver exactly what was ordered without fail, and to be as quick as possible. Our 18 five star reviews on our Facebook page reflect our goals with our customers.” Foods4U has made an impact on various customers from around the Laredo community stating that, “the process was easy-peasy” and that, “this is the real deal, great fast and friendly service.” Contreras states, “it is exciting, to say the least, that the entire experience is crazy…we just did not expect all this and now we are excited with the growth and for the future to what we are heading towards.”
Both Erick Contreras and Lydia Johnson give their thanks to Texas A&M International University for giving them the tools to successfully start a business of their own. With pride, Contreras states, “With all that is offered, and continues to offer to us, as students, we just want to give an honest thank you to TAMIU.” Orders can be placed on the Foods4U Facebook page or by simply texting or calling (956) 334–6898.
